Recently, there has been a trend of phishing in the form of messages that include malicious app links for mobile wedding invitations, parcel delivery tracking, health check results, and more.
If the victim clicks on the link included in the message, the phishing organization will steal personal information, open a new phone in the victim's name, steal deposits, and execute loans resulting in harm to the victim.
Government agencies such as the prosecution, police, and Financial Supervisory Service should bear in mind that they do not request fund transfers or personal financial transaction information over the phone.
Loan advertisements received via phone or text could also be a form of voice phishing disguised as loans. Especially if an advance payment is requested under the guise of interest or other loan-related terms, it is advisable to suspect voice phishing.
If someone is impersonating a family member or friend and requests money, or if one receives a kidnapping or blackmail phone call, it is crucial to first confirm the identity and safety of the family member calmly and not to comply with monetary demands until their identity is verified.
Files, emails, and messages from unknown sources should not be clicked on and should be deleted, and if a financial information input is required for security upgrades when accessing internet portal sites, it is highly likely to be voice phishing.
What should you do if you have been a victim of voice phishing?
First, it is necessary to utilize the 'System for Comprehensive Payment Suspension of Your Accounts' that allows you to suspend all accounts under your name collectively.
After taking suspension measures, you should visit the police station to report the incident and apply to the financial company for the refund of the stolen funds.
If the stolen funds remain unwithdrawn in the relevant account, you can retrieve the funds without a separate lawsuit procedure according to the compensation system for victims.
