Attorney Park Jong-han of Cheongchul Law Firm conducted an interview with 'Beyond Post' regarding 'drunk driving'.

Recently, as accidents caused by drunk driving continue to occur, a new amendment to the Road Traffic Act has passed through the National Assembly to prevent this. Through the interview, we explored what changes this amendment will bring to drunk driving and how we can prevent drunk driving accidents.
According to this amendment, it is mandatory to install an anti-drunk driving device in the vehicles of habitual drunk drivers that prevents them from starting the engine while intoxicated. Under the current Road Traffic Act, various penalties are imposed based on the blood alcohol concentration for drunk driving, and if there is a personal injury caused by a traffic accident, strict punishment regulations apply according to the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
Attorney Park Jong-han stated, “Both investigative agencies and the courts recognize and respond to drunk driving as a serious crime that threatens safety. Accordingly, those who drive under the influence should be aware that they may face severe penalties,” and advised those in need of legal response to drunk driving to consult with a lawyer.
