The law firm Cheongchul, represented by attorney Lee Young-kyung, delivered a presentation on 'Legal Considerations When Applying Smart Homes – Personal Information Protection Act' at the 'Smart Home (AI@Home) Grand Conference' held on November 13, 2025, at the Conference Room 2 of the Korea Science and Technology Center, organized by the Korea AI Smart Home Industry Association (KUSH) in collaboration with the Intelligent Home Alliance.

Smart Home (AI@Home) refers to a next-generation advanced living environment that provides user-tailored services based on innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and big data, while also enhancing safety, convenience, and energy efficiency.

The Smart Home (AI@Home) Alliance, established in March 2024, provides a platform for private-sector cooperation to support improvements in laws and regulations that hinder the activation of the smart home market, explore various services, and devise strategies responsive to global standards. It leads the effective establishment of standards and the activation of services, enabling companies participating in the Smart Home (AI@Home) Alliance, such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Naver Cloud, HDC Hyundai Industrial Development, Korea Land and Housing Corporation, and the Korea Information and Communications Industry Promotion Agency, to strengthen their competitiveness.

The event began with opening remarks by Vice President Choi Seung-beom of Samsung Electronics, the chair of the alliance. The current status of the smart home industry and the future strategies of various companies were discussed through presentations by the Korea Information and Communications Industry Promotion Agency, Vice President Jung Jae-yeon of Samsung Electronics, Professor Jeong Joon-sun of KAIST, and Executive Director Noh Beom-jun of LG Electronics.

Following this, attorney Lee Young-kyung of Cheongchul Law Firm presented on 'Legal Considerations When Implementing AI at Home – Personal Information Protection Act Issues to Consider When Applying Smart Home Services' covering issues related to personal information protection laws to consider when applying generative AI and examples of breaches both domestically and internationally.
