Press release
Attorney Kwang-shik Kim of Cheongchul Law Firm conducted an interview with 'IT Chosun' regarding the issue of personal information exposure caused by incorrectly entered delivery information.
With the recent increase in online ordering and delivery, cases have occurred where recipient phone numbers are entered incorrectly, causing delivery notifications to be sent to third parties who have no connection to the orderer. In such cases, the orderer's personal information, such as their name, address, and purchased items, may be delivered to a third party along with the delivery completion notification, so caution is required.
Attorney Kwang-shik Kim of Cheongchul Law Firm explained, "It is difficult to view that the e-commerce platform or the delivery company leaked personal information in the case of a delivery notification sent to a phone number incorrectly entered by the orderer." However, he presented the opinion that "Since delivery notifications can contain order information, which has the potential to be misused, the orderer’s caution is necessary."
Detailed information can be found through the published interview transcript.
